White Church in the Water

This picture is based off of a vivid dream that I had this summer.

Basically I wandered into a town that was on a cliff overlooking the ocean, called Carfax (I think, I wrote it down somewhere, so I'll doublecheck later)
It was largely seperated from the rest of the mainstream world, and was built in 1850 and built to last indefinitely, like the cities of so many centuries long past. And since then it had been kept in a pristine condition. I went up to a turnaround and talked with a man who was wearing very modest clothing, but turned out to be the towns mayor.

He told me about the town neighboring to Carfax, called Ownlife, which was built around the same time as Carfax, but the town was not built to last, as reflected by the towns condition and the mentality of it's residents.
Ownlife's old buildings had been tumbling from neglect, and abandoned apartment complexes from the 70's and fast food joints stood on top of ashes, and a house and a resident were a rare sight, but they were still there.

I went down to Ownlife to check it out, and walked down the mainstreet. It was a place with the sad taste of hopes neglected and abandoned. Then the road ended, swallowed by the sands of the beach. I could tell that the road had once led into the old part of the town, but all that stood now were a few imprints and bricks, visible in the rushing waves and a church.

The white church stood there, it's wood rotting, it's paint still there, but washing away. It's doors were open, and the ocean entered and retreated through the building.
I sat there on the road and watched it.
Someday it too would rot, and fall into the ocean, the last solid trace of what Ownlife had once been around it's time of construction.
All the while Carfax would watch from it's towering perch on the cliff.
